Low Pressure Moulding Solutions

Posted on January 20, 2015 by

WHAT WE CAN DO

With electronics in every aspect of life, resin encapsulation is an increasingly popular option for protecting sensitive components.  Low pressure overmoulding is quite simply a better and faster option.  Here at St Cross Electronics, low pressure over moulding is something we have been perfecting for a number of years.

We can provide a full subcontract overmoulding service to the entire electronics sector. We use various materials including Macromelt products that meet UL94 V-0 requirements.

From the exacting standards of Medical and Industrial X-Ray equipment, the rigorous requirements of the off-shore and airborne industries, to the precision demanded by aerospace, military and motorsport customers, we provide excellent solutions for even the toughest applications.
With over 30 years of manufacturing experience manufacturing cable assemblies both here in the UK and at our Far East facility we are equipped to support high volume work, as well as the flexibility and dedication for small or special batches and for prototype and development projects. Pre-encapsulation of electrical assemblies and cabling can also be undertaken if applicable.

Some of our partners utilise overmolding in their designs for the following benefits.

Impact & Vibration

When the moulding material cools, it hardens . This provides the finished moulded assembly with very good protection against impact and vibration. All connectors, components and wires are encapsulated and held in place within the material.  This is very effective for the motorsport and automotive industry, military, medical and technology industries where motion, vibration and impact are a concern.

Waterproofing

We have found that all market sectors we supply have a requirement to protect electronics from moisture, condensation, immersion in water (inc. saltwater), or even from liquids such as bodily fluids.

Strain Relief

We can create a design, that gives the finished article using the same materials, a strain relief where a cable exits the rear of the assembly.   This same technology and process can even be used to create and incorporate grommets and create strain relief.

LVDS Cables

Posted on August 21, 2014 by

St Cross Electronics now offer a wide range of LVDS cable assemblies.  These are widely used in products that use displays of all formats.

Low-voltage differential signaling, or LVDS, also known as TIA/EIA-644, is a technical standard that specifies electrical characteristics of a differential, serial comms protocol.  LVDS operates at low power and can run at very high speeds using inexpensive twisted pair copper cables. Since LVDS is a physical layer specification only, many data communication standards and applications use it but then add a data link layer as defined in the OSI model on top of it.

We can manufacture these in a wide range of pitch sizes including, 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.8mm and 1.0mm.  Cables that are jacketed, screened or just straight flat cables.  Qty’s start from just 100 pieces.

Please contact us today via email or call the sales office on +44 (0)23 8022 7636 and one of our dedicated team will help you with your requirement.

Please do contact Ryan by email if you would like to book a slot for his time, or just visit him or his staff on the booth.  We can be found at booth 5020 in Hall 10.

UK and Europe Agency Awarded to St Cross Electronics

Posted on July 30, 2014 by

It gives us great pleasure to be able to announce that we have created a partnership with one of the most exciting connector manufacturers to come out of the Far East.  Sunkye International Co Ltd.
Sunkye (Connector) Business Group, have 65 years of experience, specialises in designing and producing connectors, related components and cables. A wide range of connector products including twist pin connector, optical fiber connector, RF coaxial connector, umbilical connector, custom and application-specific connectors, which are widely used in high tech markets such as space, aerospace, aviation, electrical, ship-building, defense and also civil markets such as communication, telecom, automotive, and rail.

Dax Ward, MD of St Cross Electronics stated, “What interested me initially about Sunkye was their ability and enthusiasm to work with our customers and come up with a design solution to what our customers actually required, rather than having an interconnect solution that sometimes you have to make do with. Their team of engineers work very well with our own team here to enable these solutions to come together. The quality of the work, drawings and communication follow the same ethos that we work to here at our facilities here in the UK. What is surprising though is that you can have a custom made connector solution at a very affordable price.”

The CEO of Sunkye added, “It’s our pleasure to welcome St. Cross Electronics Ltd as our new distributor in UK & Europe. We are pleased to be strategically aligning ourselves with them, believing that this is a winning partnership. Sunkye commitment to our customers is to offer excellent quality connectors, excellent service levels and to be competitive price on connectors. We look forward to this partnership with St Cross Electronics Ltd long into future”.

Posted on March 28, 2014 by

Friday 28th March 2014 MD Dax Ward announced today that it was the intention of St Cross Electronics to achieve approval to AS9100 – Aerospace Quality Management Standard.

Quality is KEY to our business.  We have held approval to ISO9000 since 1990, and have added along our journey ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and are even UL approved.  With our involvement in military projects it makes perfect sense to extend our ISO9000 approval up to AS9100.

2014 is an exciting time for us all, with our new ERP software going live very soon and also new additions to key staff, we look forward to improving our business further by adding this new Quality Standard.
